Tip 1: Make Friends

World of Warcraft is an online game for a reason – there is a massive community out there for you to join in with and get to know. Get started by finding a guild of like-minded people. The other advantage of guilds is that you will be able to get help and assistance when you get stuck, however, don’t forget to help others in return!

Tip 2: Don’t Keep Changing Characters

There’s a word for people who keep making new characters – an "alt-a-holic". There’s nothing wrong with trying them all out, but, in the end up, you are going to have to decide on one and focus your efforts on it, otherwise you will spend your entire time in the same areas and it will get boring pretty quickly.

Tip 3: Learn Your Class

Often new players will find that they have problems as soon as they join a group, maybe they don’t know what they ought to be doing or perhaps they just aren’t very experienced at playing their class – this causes everyone problems as you won’t be able to get anywhere. If you try and learn more about your class you will find yourself becoming a greater asset to the group and enjoying yourself more. The official class forums are a great place to do this.

Tip 4: Give It All A Go

You never know what you will enjoy before you try it, so, make sure you try out PvP as well as just leveling as you may find a completely new angle on the game which is much more suited to what you like doing. Other things to try are: playing the auction house, collecting mini pets and completing achievements.

Tip 5: Focus On The Parts You Enjoy

Too often players get stuck grinding mobs to earn a few gold just to buy that "must-have" item – this is a vicious cycle and players like that will get bored of the game pretty quickly. It is much better to spend some time finding ways to make gold quicker so that you get more time to have fun playing the parts of the game you like.

5 Best Map Add-Ons For World of Warcraft

There are many World of Warcraft add-ons and you can experiment with different ones and see which ones you like most, but I personally have made my choice and here are my top 5 World of Warcraft Map add-ons which I use for finding various things on the map as well as improve the looks of my mini-map.

1. Carbonite – this is my favorite add-on for questing and finding my way around. There is a nifty arrow showing you the direction you should follow to get to the quest objective as well as a list showing the closest quests you have on the map so you can choose which quest you would like to complete first. Once I used it for a while I decided to remove it and to check my speed of leveling – and it was much slower. Using this add-on will save you time and the hassle of wondering what to do and where to go, so in my opinion this is a great choice of questing/map add-on.

2. Atlasloot Enhanced – This is my favorite add-on when it comes to browsing the possible loot tables of bosses in dungeons and raids and deciding where I want to go hoping to get some gear upgrades on my main or my alts. Using this add-on makes me plan my strategy better when I’m trying to gear up new character as quickly as possible as I go only to dungeons where there is something useful for me and skip the places where there is noting of interest for this particular class I’m gearing up.

3. Cartographer – This is my choice of world map add-on, allowing you to customize the world map in many ways. One of the features I like most especially for a new player is that the add-on uncovers all the zones on the map and you can easily see where to go instead of seeing grey unexplored zones. There are various plug ins for Cartographer as well, so getting this add-on is definitely good choice.

4. Gatherer – This is my "lifesaver" add-on for farming herbs and minerals as it remembers and saves every node you have gathered and places a note on the minimap with an icon of the specific resource. What makes it even better is that Gatherer shares nodes gathering with other members of your guild, meaning that if someone else gathers herb in a distant zone, the add-on will save that node on your information map as well. This way you quickly get a nice overview of possible spawn node spots in all zones.

5. SexyMap – This is a nice skin add-on changing the positioning and the looks of your mini-map in an interesting way. I think it is cool, mostly only for the looks as it does not offer so much improved functionality apart from being able to move your mini-map around and change the shape to your mini-map if you feel like – make it square instead of circle for example. I use it mostly because this way I can place the square mini-map better in my custom build UI and not have it circled at top of my screen and also because I really like the cool borders.

A lot of hype is created around World of Warcraft Macros in today’s gaming society. Some people want to know how to use the World of Warcraft Macros and others moan about not being able to use it to its full potential. The fact is that when you start the game, it gets too exciting and you get too much into it. There is just too much to do in the fantastical world of WOW for one to remember World of Warcraft Macros.

For those of you who are not familiar with World of Warcraft Macros, this article will do you some good. For those of you who know what Macros are in this wonderful world you might just also learn a few new tricks of the trade…

So, Macros is basically, to put in plain; in a nutshell; a command. It’s a command you type into the chat box for your character to do. Let’s say for example, in the World of Warcraft Macros, you want to beat-up a player on the other end of a battle field – let’s call this player Eddie. All you need to do, is bring up your chat box and type: "/dual eddie", and your character will vigorously make it’s way to the end of the battle field to find Eddie and beat the living daylights out of him. Yes, it’s as easy as that in the World of Warcraft Macros.

So, what else can you do in the World of Warcraft Macros? … I hear you ask. Read on, grasshopper, I have compiled a list of macros commands that will help you in your battle, I took the liberty to explain a few of them for those of you who just don’t got no clue.

/assist [name], this one should be quite simply – Remember that all of these work the same. You have to type the forward slash then the command and in most cases the name of the character you want to do the command to. As in " /duel [name]", you will fight the person you named in the command. Then we have: " /follow, /invite [name], (I don’t think you want to invite any of your enemies to bed – be careful with this one), /leave [name], /ignore [name], /party [message] this one will be privately displayed to your team members only. /reply [message], and /say," now you will find that some of these will not be any good on the battle field, but I think you will find more use in the above than you do in the list below. Now those were the active macros commands…

Then you have the simpler macros commands that aren’t really going to help you any on the battle field. In fact these suckers just might you killed on the battle field. You don’t believe me? Give them a try … let me know what you think.

"/Applaud, (don’t use this unless you team is winning) /apologize, (I don’t think any real man will use this), /burp, /cringe, /cuddle, (you won’t do this with you enemy. If you do, don’t let you team mate know about it), /fidget, /comfort, /cry, /cower, /fart, /dance, /purr, /happy, /sleep, /smile, /yawn"

See what I’m saying? Use these when you are with your guy friends (especially the fart one, hehe). The last list was compiled by a really bored SOB. Though at times they could come in handy.

So, the next step in the World of Warcraft Macros would be to get to use these. It’s quite simply really. You have to activate the macros and the commands you need. How do you do this? Open you main menu panel … Choose Macros and you Macros screen pops up. Now press the new button and up will pop a choice of somewhat useless and somewhat really helpful macros commands. Make your choice, press complete and off you go! You are ready for the new world of Macros commands – oh, please do not forget the fart command.

Skinning is one of those essential gathering professions that match up perfectly with the Leatherworking profession. Along with that, you can make decent gold by just gathering skins from monsters and animals you have killed or hunted. For those that have chosen to pursue skinning, it’s as simple as mousing over the corpse of a creature you’ve just killed and looking for the word ’skinnable’ in the tooltip. Along with the skill level you’ve acquired, this lets you know if you are capable of skinning the corpse you’re now standing over.

Skinning is rather simple, much like the other professions, but even more so because it can be done while grinding. Instead of searching for mineral veins or herbs on the ground, you can simply look for animals and creatures you are already killing for loot and experience. The leather and scales you acquire is all extra, acquired from previously slain enemies. It saves you time and still manages to make you money in the long run. And while you still have to scour around a bit to find skinnable enemies, you’re getting experience points in the process.

The act of skinning itself depends on your skill level in skinning. Different corpses require different skill levels and it takes as different amount of time to complete the task depending on what your skill level is. When the process has succeeded you’ll see that ever so lovely loot menu with all of the available items you can take from the corpse. If you fail and the menu closes, simply try again.

The skill level and difficulty of skinning a corpse are directly linked. The enemy you kill and their skill level while still alive are important factors in deciding how easy it is to skin them. For skill levels below 100, the formula for corpses you can skin is [(Skill Level/10) ზ. This means that if your skill level in skinning is only 40, the formula would look like this: [(40/10)ზ]=14. Once you reach the magic 100 skill level, the formula changes to the slightly simpler Skill Level/5, meaning those with a 200 skill level could skin enemies of level 40 or lower.

For those enemies that are skinnable, you will see a color coded phrase in your tooltip bar that says ’skinnable’. The codes are as follows:

Red – The enemy is skinnable but your skill level is too low.

Orange – Offers a higher chance of gaining a skill level (harder to skin)

Yellow – Offers a moderate chance of gaining a skill level (okay to skin)

Green – Offers very little chance of gaining a skill level (easy to skin)

Grey – You will definitely skin these corpses, but will never gain a skill level.

The skinning profession is an easy and rewarding one. Over time you will find that the process will gain you all sorts of amazing new items for the Auction House and Vendors as well, eventually turning into solid gold.

One of the most popular WoW add-ons is QuestHelper.

This add-on has been designed to help you level quickly and efficiently. It does this by pointing out the way to the various monsters you will need to kill, or by gathering spots for items you need to pick up. It is also designed to point out to you the shortest route between quests, depending on where you are at when you log in and what quests you have in your quest log.

QuestHelper will automatically adjust as you add or remove quests from your log.

It gets its information from users like you, allowing it to tell players where others located quest items.

You are under no obligation to do either; however, if you really love an application helping out either way really can help keep it running.

If you experience issues with QuestHelper.

1. You can enter in /qh error and it will show the error.
2. Typing in /qh hardreset will reset everything to the day you installed it, which will generally solve any problems.
3. Typing /qh hidden will show you why you are not seeing quest items on your map.
4. Keep in mind that QuestHelper does use a lot of memory, and this can slow up your computer if you do not have a lot of memory space.

World of Warcraft Quest help – Using QuestHelper.

You will find that this is relatively easy;

• you simply install it and follow the arrow.
• The arrow should take you to the next step of the closest quest.
• In the event that the quest isn’t in the zone you are currently in, QuestHelper will generally direct you to a flight master or a zone border.
• If you open your World Map, you can see where on the map the objectives are located, as well as the travel plan that QuestHelper thinks you should do.
• Most objectives are given normal priority, though a timed quest or user created objective are ranked higher.
• You can adjust these if desired.

World of Warcraft Macros – Basic WoW Macros for Warriors

World of Warcraft macros allow you to automate certain repetitive or complicated tasks in WoW by binding a series of text commands (those you would normally type in the command window) to a button which will execute the commands when it is pressed.

Covering all the options you have when creating WoW macros would take a small book so instead of boring you with all those details I thought I would use this article to go over the macros that are most helpful for warriors.

First, a few general characteristics of macros themselves.

Using regular World of Warcraft commands in macros works just the same as if you were typing them in the command line. For example, to set up a macro to say "Have at you!" the line in the macro would simply be: /s Have at you!

When writing commands that utilize the WoW user interface like casting a spell or moving items in your bags, commands must be written in the LUA programming language. Don’t worry if you’re not a programmer and don’t know LUA because you don’t need to in order to use this guide, I only mention this because it will help you understand the macros better if you know the difference between a regular WoW command and a LUA command.

All macros are case sensitive and are broken into two parts. The LUA commands should be written in lower case while the WoW function commands usually use a capital letter to begin each word.

For example, if else then and not end are each a LUA command and should always be written in lowercase. CastSpellByName "Spell" is a World of Warcraft function command which you can see because the beginning of each word is capitalized.

/script must always be put at the beginning of a string of commands, unless you are just using WoW in game slash commands. For example, the above Wow function command CastSpellByName "Spell" would actually be written like this: /script CastSpellByName "Spell" as a macro because it isn’t a standard in-game slash command and therefore needs to have /script at the beginning of the sentence.

But, /logout and /laugh are examples of in-game slash commands and do not need /script at the beginning of the sentence.

Putting paragraphs between scripts will seperate the two scripts from each another and they will be recognized as two separate scripts by the game engine. So, if you are using the if command in a script the entire script up through the end command must be in the same sentence. This means you can’t use paragraphs to make the command more readable because the game engine will interpret the new paragraph as the beginning of new command.

; is commonly used as a delimiter between commands and acts like a paragraph in that the sentence after the semi-colon will be interpreted as a new command.

If you are using the if command the if must eventually be followed by the then command and ended by the endif then command in order to be valid. For example, a typical if/then/else command would look like this: if Something is true then Do Something end

Some WoW commands will have empty parentheses () at the end of the command and, even though there’s nothing between the parentheses they must still be included for the command to be valid.

Basic World of Warcraft Macros for Warriors

Two of the most common questions I see from warriors regarding macros is "How do I change my stance" and "How do I change my weapons" so those are the two macros I’m going to go over here. I’ll cover basic and advanced stance commands first then go over changing your weapons using a macro after that.

There are several commands you can use to change your stance as a warrior. I’ll explain the simple commands first then later on I’ll introduce ways to use more advanced commands to gain much more powerful effects.

Changing your stance can either be done by casting a "Spell" (CastSpellByName "Spell") or by using the function command for changing stances (CastShapeshiftForm()). The CastSpellByName "Spell" command will cast whatever spell is typed between the two quotes (where Spell is currently written). A stance is a Spell as is a charge or an attack. Basically, anything you see in your spell book can be "cast" by using the CastSpellByName"" function.

Here are a few examples:

/script CastSpellByName"Battle Stance" will put you in Battle Stance
/script CastSpellByName"Defensive Stance" will put you in Defensive Stance
/script CastSpellByName"Berserker Stance" will put you in Berserker Stance

You can also use a function command for changing stances. This command does the same thing as the CastSpellByName command but is a little shorter. Because each World of Warcraft macro is limited to 255 characters it’s important to use the shortest command possible to accomplish your goal.

/script CastShapeshiftForm(1) will put you in Battle Stance
/script CastShapeshiftForm(2) will put you in Defensive Stance
/script CastShapeshiftForm(3) will put you in Berserker Stance

The player versus player environment in World of Warcraft is one of the most exciting aspects of the game. To best understand those weaknesses it is helpful to make characters of other classes or play pre-made characters on the test realm. Learn to identify each class by sight.

Your ultimate goal will be to develop strategies to fight each unique class. But until you become more proficient, develop general strategies to deal with caster classes or melee classes or combination classes such as warlocks and hunters who deal ranged and melee damage simultaneously.

Two of the quickest ways to improve your PVP skills are to duel other players and to join battlegrounds. Whenever you practice, alternately employ defensive and offensive tactics to gauge their effectiveness. Finally, it will be the best use of your time to focus on a particular area where you are weak and spend multiple sessions addressing one problem. Over time you will begin to notice amazing improvement and will have a much more satisfying PVP experience.
